How to choose a men's watch

It is worth starting with three questions: which movement you want, how much water resistance you need, and what you will wear it for. Most men's watches are quartz, but there are many automatics and more and more solar models, in which you almost never need to change the battery. With the filter by movement you can sort them out in one click.

How much water resistance does a men's watch need?

  • 3 atm – hand washing, rain; enough for elegant, suit-and-tie watches.
  • 5 atm – showers, the occasional splash.
  • 10 atm – swimming, holidays; this is the most common value in our range.
  • Above 20 atm – dive watches, with series from several brands to choose from.

If you will wear it every day and do not want to think about it, 10 atm is the more relaxed choice.

Which case material and shape should you choose?

Most men's watches are made with a stainless steel case, titanium is lighter and ceramic is more scratch resistant. You can filter these by case material, and round and angular shapes by case shape. For crystal, sapphire is the most scratch resistant; you will find it on the page by crystal type.

If you are unsure, measure your wrist and compare it with the case diameter given on the product page – we shorten a metal bracelet free of charge in our service, and a leather strap can be adjusted using its holes.

What people ask before buying a men's watch

Should I buy an automatic or a quartz men's watch?

If you want an accurate, maintenance-free watch, quartz is better; if you value mechanics and tradition, go for an automatic. With daily wear an automatic winds itself, but if you wear it rarely it may stop.

What does the price of a men's watch depend on?

On the movement, the materials and the brand. Everyday Casio, Seiko or Citizen models are excellent buys in the entry and mid-range, while the Swiss Longines and TAG Heuer watches represent the higher price range.

What case size is right for a men's watch?

On most men's wrists a 39–42 mm case is the most proportionate. On a wrist under 17 cm, 38–40 mm is better, and on a sturdier wrist 43–45 mm can look good too.

Does an online-ordered men's watch come with a warranty?

Yes, as an official brand dealer we send every watch with a manufacturer warranty and a warranty card. In a warranty case our own service handles contact with the brand's official service centre.

What is the difference between a 10 and a 20 atm men's watch?

With a 10 atm watch you can swim, while a 20 atm watch is also suitable for diving. For the beach 10 atm is enough; for snorkelling and diving choose 20 atm.
