Which Swiss men's watch should you start with?

If this is your first Swiss watch, the Tissot PRX or the Mido Multifort is a good way in: steel case, integrated bracelet or classic strap, and in most versions an automatic movement with an 80-hour power reserve. Tissot is a Swiss watch brand founded in Le Locle in 1853 and a member of the Swatch Group. Anyone stepping up a level usually looks at the Longines Conquest or the TAG Heuer Carrera.

Swiss dive watches for men

  • Longines HydroConquest – the brand's sporty line built for diving, with a wide choice in men's sizes.
  • Tissot Seastar – Tissot's dive watch, equally good for sport and everyday wear.
  • Mido Ocean Star – Mido's dive watch series.
  • TAG Heuer Aquaracer – the brand's dive watch.
  • Doxa – the 1967 SUB 300 made the orange dial famous, because that colour is the easiest to see underwater.

What can the Powermatic 80 movement do?

This Swatch Group automatic movement gives roughly 80 hours of power reserve, so if you take the watch off on Friday evening, it is still running on Monday morning. You will find it in Tissot, Mido and Certina men's watches. For daily wear, including swimming, we recommend models rated 10 atm; for more serious water sports, choose a 20–30 atm dive watch.

How do you choose a case size online?

The difference between a 40 and a 43 mm watch matters more than you might think. Measure your wrist with a tape measure, then check the case diameter and the lug-to-lug length on the product page: a 38–40 mm case suits a slimmer wrist, while around 42 mm looks proportionate on a larger one. If you already own a watch you enjoy wearing, its size is a good starting point too.

If you are not set on Swiss only, among the further men's watch categories you will also find Japanese automatics.

Frequently asked questions about Swiss men's watches

What determines the price of a Swiss automatic men's watch?

Mainly the brand, the movement and the finishing. Tissot and Mido are the Swiss entry level, Longines and TAG Heuer the higher end; case material, sapphire crystal and water resistance also play a part. You can use the movement filter to narrow the selection down to Swiss automatics quickly.

Which Swiss dive watch offers the best value?

For value, the Tissot Seastar and the Mido Ocean Star are the strongest Swiss dive watches. If you want something more collectible, a Doxa or a Longines HydroConquest is the one to pick.

How accurate is a Swiss automatic watch?

An automatic watch may gain or lose a few seconds a day, which is completely normal. If you need more precise timekeeping, choose a Swiss quartz or solar model.

Do Swiss men's watches come with a manufacturer warranty?

Yes, as an official brand dealer we sell every Swiss watch with the manufacturer warranty. If you need servicing later, our own watch service stays in touch with the factory service centre.
