Men's Watches by Crystal – Sapphire, Mineral Crystal, Acrylic

Men's watches with a sapphire, mineral crystal or acrylic crystal: here you can filter the range by crystal type. There is a wide choice of both sapphire and mineral crystal watches, while acrylic models mostly appeal to fans of military and vintage style. As an official dealer, we ship every watch with the manufacturer warranty, and our own watch service can also tell you whether an older watch needs a new crystal or just a polish.

Does a men's sport watch need a sapphire crystal?

For work, gardening or the gym, scratch resistance is worth a lot. Men's sapphire crystal watches shrug off wall corners, barbells and tools, which is why dive watches and higher-end models – Tissot Seastar, Longines HydroConquest, Tag Heuer – are almost all fitted with one. Men's mineral crystal watches, such as many Casio Edifice and Festina models, offer good value, but fine hairline scratches show up over time.

When is acrylic better on a men's watch?

Men's acrylic crystal watches tend to dent under a hard knock rather than shatter. That is why they are popular on military and vintage-style watches. Scratches can be buffed out with polishing paste or in our service.

What is an anti-reflective coating?

Many sapphire crystals get an anti-reflective layer, so the dial stays easy to read even in strong sunlight. If you spend a lot of time outdoors, check for it in the product details.

How do you tell which crystal a watch has when ordering online?

The product page details always list the crystal type, and often whether it has an anti-reflective coating.

Men's watch crystals – frequently asked questions

Can a sapphire crystal break?

Yes. Sapphire is extremely scratch resistant, but a hard, sharp impact can crack it. It protects best against scratches, not against breakage.

What is a mineral crystal on a watch?

Mineral crystal is tempered glass, more scratch resistant than acrylic but softer than sapphire. It is the most common crystal on mid-range men's watches.

What does the price of replacing a watch crystal depend on?

On the model, the crystal type and size, and whether an original part is needed. A sapphire replacement is usually the most expensive and acrylic the least; our service gives an exact quote after inspecting the watch.

Can a scratch be removed from a watch crystal?

On acrylic, usually yes, by polishing. On mineral crystal only very fine hairline scratches can be removed, and on sapphire practically none; for a deep scratch or a crack, replacing the crystal is the solution.
