Why is silver the safest choice for a men's watch?

Because it clashes with nothing: a steel case goes with black and brown shoes, with a silver ring and with a white gold wedding band. Most of the silver cases we sell are stainless steel, which stands up well to daily wear, and a brushed finish hides scratches better than a mirror polish.

Which men's silver watch should you choose, and for what?

  • Sport, everyday: Casio Edifice, G-Shock, TAG Heuer Formula.
  • Swimming, diving: Tissot Seastar, Longines HydroConquest – many silver men's watches are rated at least 20 atm.
  • Office, suit: Citizen Elegance Man, Baume & Mercier, Daniel Klein Exclusive.
  • First automatic: Seiko 5 Sports, Citizen Automatic, Orient.

How to keep a steel case and bracelet looking good

Lukewarm soapy water and a soft toothbrush will get the dirt out from between the links of the bracelet – but only if the watch is water resistant. Then wipe it dry. Don't try to remove small scratches on a brushed surface at home. You can find the other case colors under men's watches by case color.

When buying online, don't worry about the bracelet length: a metal bracelet can be adjusted to your wrist by removing links, and our own watch service does that too. To choose the size, measure your wrist and compare it with the case size given on the product page.

Men's silver watches – quick answers to the most common questions

What is the case of a men's silver watch made of?

Almost always stainless steel – here silver describes the color, not the precious metal. You can find the case material on every product page.

Which silver men's watch is good for swimming?

Any watch rated at least 10 atm; most silver men's watches are. For diving, the 20 atm Tissot Seastar and Longines HydroConquest are a good choice.

Can you shower with a 10 atm steel watch?

Yes, a 10 atm watch is suitable for swimming, so a shower won't hurt it. It is best to skip the sauna with it, though, because of the hot water and steam.

What determines the price of a silver men's watch?

The movement, the brand and the finishing. At entry level you will find simple quartz models for work or as a spare, higher up Japanese automatics, and in the upper range Swiss chronographs and dive watches.
