Mido in brief: where does the brand come from?

Mido is a Swiss watch brand founded by George G. Schaeren in Biel/Bienne in 1918; today it is headquartered in Le Locle and is a member of the Swatch Group. The brand is known for durable automatic watches you can wear every day: the 1934 Multifort was already self-winding, shock-resistant, antimagnetic and water resistant, and in 1970 the Aquadura crown seal, which uses natural cork, was introduced. Today Mido builds on the Powermatic 80 movement family, which gives up to 80 hours of power reserve – take it off on Friday evening and it is still running on Monday morning.

Which Mido line suits you?

  • Mido Multifort: the widest selection, sporty 10 ATM everyday watches, including the Multifort TV with its TV-screen-shaped case.
  • Mido Ocean Star: dive watches from 20 ATM, with the 60 ATM Ocean Star 600 at the top of the line.
  • Mido Commander: classic, clean automatics for men and women.
  • Mido Baroncelli: the brand's most elegant pieces, made for a suit.

What determines the price of a Mido watch?

The entry level is made up of the simpler three-hand versions of the Multifort and the Commander, most lines sit in the brand's middle range, and the Ocean Star 600 and the chronographs stand at the top. The price is determined mainly by the movement (three-hand, chronograph, GMT), the water resistance and the materials (steel, ceramic bezel, sapphire crystal). In this category you get a Swiss automatic movement and a long power reserve, which is why many people consider Mido their first "serious" Swiss watch.

Men's or women's Mido?

Most of the range is men's watches, but there are women's models too: Multifort TV, Commander Lady and Baroncelli, almost all automatic. You can filter them on the Mido women's watches and Mido men's watches pages.

How to choose a Mido watch online

First decide what you would wear it for: the Multifort or the Commander for the office and everyday, the Ocean Star for the water, the Baroncelli for a suit. Then check the case diameter on the product page and compare it with your wrist circumference – Mido cases are typically between 38 and 42 mm, and the Baroncelli sits well on slimmer wrists too. Every Mido watch comes with the manufacturer warranty, and we take care of warranty and maintenance matters.
