What is Orient Star?
Orient Star is the higher-end line of the Japanese Orient, and the first Orient Star watch was made in 1951. Orient now belongs to the Seiko Epson group and is known for its in-house mechanical movements. In the skeleton model made for the 70th anniversary, a silicon escapement produced with Epson's MEMS technology was at work – a good sign that the brand cares about engineering as much as about handcrafted detail.
Which Orient Star collection suits you?
- Contemporary: the widest selection. Modern, clean dress watches, often with an open heart or a power reserve indicator, suited to a suit and to jeans alike.
- Classic: understated, traditional shapes if you are looking for an elegant, timeless piece.
- Avant Garde Skeleton: an openworked dial that lets you follow the movement at work.
- Sports: a sportier, sturdier case if you want to wear it actively on weekdays too.
What to look for when buying an automatic Orient Star
An automatic watch is wound by the movement of your wrist. If it sits in a drawer for a few days, it stops; then you simply wind it a few turns with the crown and set it. If you rotate between several mechanical watches, a watch winder is a convenient solution. As for size, the models marked M34 and M45 come with different case sizes: compare the diameter given on the product page with your wrist circumference before you decide. Water resistance is 10 ATM (100 m) on most models, which is enough for swimming, but some are rated 5 ATM, so always check this figure for the watch you choose.
Orient Star or standard Orient?
Standard Orient watches are among the entry-level mechanical watches, while Orient Star adds finer finishing, more detailed dials and more precisely adjusted movements. If you are just getting to know mechanical watches, it is worth browsing the product pages of both lines side by side: the difference shows most in the depth of the dial and the decoration of the movement. You can look at other Japanese and Swiss brands among the watches.
Warranty and service
As an official Orient Star dealer we deliver every watch with the manufacturer warranty. Strap changes, water resistance checks and later maintenance are handled by our own watch service, so your watch gets expert care in one place throughout its life.
