Men's Watches by Case Shape – Round, Rectangular, Elliptical

Round or rectangular? Here, men's watches by case shape are split into three groups: round, rectangular and elliptical. The vast majority of the range has a round case, rectangular models are a more distinctive choice, and an elliptical case is a real rarity. As an official dealer, we deliver every watch to your door with the manufacturer warranty, and our own watch service can help you size a metal bracelet.

Should you choose a round or a rectangular men's watch?

For men, the round case is the safe base: it works on a sport watch, a dive watch and with a suit, which is why most of our range is round – Casio G-Shock, Edifice, Seiko 5 Sports and Longines HydroConquest models all belong here. Rectangular men's watches have more character: they suit a shirt, a blazer or a vintage-style outfit, and they show right away that you chose deliberately.

  • Round men's watches – sporty and elegant models across the widest range of styles.
  • Rectangular case – less common, more individual, and looks great under a shirt cuff.
  • Elliptical men's watches – a rarity, better suited to those with classic taste.

What case size suits a man's wrist?

For most men, a round case of around 40 mm is the safe middle ground, but the lug-to-lug distance matters even more: if the edge of the watch overhangs your wrist, it is too big. A rectangular case always looks bigger than a round one on the same wrist, so go down a size there. And if you wear it every day, 10 atm water resistance is worth more than any shape.

How do you choose a size online?

Take the most comfortable watch you have owned and measure its case diameter and lug-to-lug length with a ruler, then compare them with the details on the product page. You can measure your wrist with a strip of paper. You can browse all men's models on the men's watches page.

Frequently asked questions about men's watch case shapes

Should I wear a round or rectangular men's watch with a suit?

Both work with a suit if the case is slim and the dial is clean. The round one is more understated, the rectangular one has more character.

What size watch suits an average man's wrist?

A round case of around 40 mm fits most men's wrists well. What matters more is that the lugs do not overhang the wrist: compare the lug-to-lug length on the product page with the width of your wrist.

Why are elliptical men's watches rare?

An elliptical, oval case is rare on men's watches and mostly appears on classic, old-fashioned models. Whoever looks for one usually wants a deliberately unique piece.

Can a metal bracelet be shortened if I order online?

Yes, a metal bracelet is made of links that can be removed. Any watchmaker can do it, and our own watch service can help too.
