Watch Straps by Material – Leather, Silicone, Metal, Fabric, Milanese

Looking for a leather, silicone, metal or fabric watch strap? Here you can browse by material from a wide selection, mainly from Rochet, Hirsch, Casio and Tissot, from simple everyday straps to original branded bands. If you know your watch's lug width, you will find a matching strap in a few clicks, order online and have it delivered. Our own watch service will change the strap too if you would rather not bother with it.

Which watch strap material is for what?

  • Leather watch straps: the biggest selection, for the office, everyday wear and dressy watches. Leather copes less well with water and sweat and wears faster in summer.
  • Silicone and rubber watch straps: waterproof and easy to wash off, for sport, swimming and the beach. Rubber is usually softer and more durable than cheap silicone.
  • Metal watch straps: tough and long-lasting, with a length that can be adjusted by removing links, which our own watch service can do as well.
  • Fabric watch straps: light and breathable, with a sporty NATO-style look.
  • Milanese watch straps: fine woven metal mesh with a sliding clasp, infinitely adjustable.

Leather or silicone strap for summer?

If you spend a lot of summer in the water or you sweat a lot, we suggest silicone or rubber, and leaving leather for autumn. If you wear one strap all year, leather with a water-repellent finish, such as Rochet's sporty leather straps, is a good compromise.

What matters after the material?

The width: the distance between the lugs in millimetres. Once you have it, the width filter on the straps will get you there faster. When choosing online, also look at the inside of your old strap, since many makers stamp the size there, and watch the colour of the buckle: silver goes with a silver case and gold with a gold case.

Watch strap materials – questions and answers

Which watch strap material is the most durable?

A metal strap is the most durable: it keeps its shape for years and water does not harm it. Rubber comes next, while leather wears out the fastest, especially in summer.

Can I shower with a leather watch strap?

Showering with a leather strap is not recommended, because water dries the leather out and makes it crack. If your watch often gets wet, choose a silicone, rubber or metal strap.

What is the difference between a silicone and a rubber watch strap?

Rubber is a natural-based material that is usually softer, more flexible and more durable than silicone. A silicone strap is cheaper and easy to clean, but it attracts dust and wears sooner.

What affects the price of a watch strap?

Mostly the material, the brand and whether it is an original or a universal strap. Simple plastic straps sit in the budget-friendly range, while original branded bands and specially finished leathers belong to the higher price category.
