Milanese Watch Straps – Woven Metal Mesh for Slim Watches
Looking for a Milanese strap for a slim, elegant watch? Our range includes original Tissot Milanese straps in 16, 18, 20 and 22 mm widths, along with a gold-tone universal woven strap. The selection is narrower than for other materials, so it is worth measuring the lug width exactly before you order. Our own watch service can fit the strap and adjust its length for you.
What is a Milanese watch strap?
A Milanese strap is made of fine, densely woven metal mesh. It is thin and supple, wraps around the wrist smoothly and breathes better than leather. Many versions close with a magnetic or sliding clasp, so there are no holes to line up with: it adjusts infinitely to any wrist size.
Which watches suit a Milanese strap?
- Slim, flat-cased classic watches, especially with a simple dial.
- 16–18 mm for women's watches, 20–22 mm for men's dress watches.
- On a massive, thick dive watch it feels too light, and there we recommend a link bracelet instead.
What to look for when buying a Milanese strap
Keep the case and the strap in the same tone: choose silver mesh for a silver case and the gold-tone woven piece for a gold case. Dirt that gets between the strands can be cleaned out with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water.
The full range, leather and silicone included, is on the watch straps by material page. If you are not sure about the width, measure the inner distance between the lugs with a caliper, or check the marking on the inside of the old strap.
Milanese straps: what is worth knowing
Can the length of a Milanese watch strap be adjusted?
Yes, the clasp of a Milanese strap can be fixed at any point on the mesh, so it adjusts infinitely, without holes. A strap that is too long can also be shortened at a service centre.
Which widths are Milanese straps available in?
Original Tissot Milanese straps are in the range in 16, 18, 20 and 22 mm widths, along with a gold-tone universal woven version. The exact size is given by the inner distance between the lugs.
Does a Milanese strap pull arm hair?
Rarely, but it happens, mostly with old or cheap, loosely woven straps. A densely woven mesh that closes well, like the original Tissot straps, is much gentler in this respect.
