What does 10 atm water resistance mean on a kids' watch?
A watch marked 10 atm (100 m) is suitable for swimming, the beach and showering, but not for diving. A 5 atm watch is strongly splash resistant: hand washing, rain and splashing water won't harm it, but we don't recommend swimming with it. The vast majority of watches in this category are 10 atm; you will find the exact value on every product page.
Lorus or Ice Watch?
- Lorus: Seiko's sister brand, introduced in Europe in 1982. Its kids' watches are more classic, with many dials with hands, which also helps with learning to tell time.
- Ice Watch: a Belgian brand founded in 2007, with watches on colourful silicone straps. The Ola Kids is light and lively, a good companion for summer camp too.
How does it stay waterproof for a long time?
Seals age, so water resistance is not forever. A few simple rules help a lot:
- Before swimming, check that the crown is pushed in.
- After the pool or the sea, rinse it with tap water; chlorine and salt are easier on the strap that way too.
- After a battery change, ask for a water resistance test, because once the case back has been opened, the seal matters too.

Which kids' watch can you swim with?
You can swim with a kids' watch that is water resistant to at least 10 atm (100 m). Almost all of our waterproof kids' watches are like this, Lorus and Ice Watch models.
What determines the price of a waterproof kids' watch?
Mainly the brand and the finish; 10 atm water resistance is already found even on affordable entry-level models, so you don't need to reach for a higher category to get a swim-proof watch.
Is there a waterproof boys' kids' watch too?
Yes, a large part of the waterproof range suits boys as well: sporty Lorus Kids models and darker Ice Watch colours. Among the Lorus children's watches you will also find versions with blue and black dials.
Who checks the water resistance of a kids' watch?
Our own watch service does the water resistance test. It is especially worth asking for after a battery change, because opening the case back affects the seal too.
