What watch should you buy for a little girl?

Three things matter for a first watch: it should be light, easy to read, and your child should love it. We usually say: let her have the pattern, and you decide the practical side. For learning to tell time, a dial with hands and every number written out is best.

  • Tiko Time kids' watches: cheerful patterned dials (kittens, puppies, dinosaurs, flowers, footballs), affordable, for a first watch.
  • Ice Watch Learning and Fantasy: light watches with colourful silicone straps; the Learning series is made specifically for learning to read the time.
  • Lorus Kids: kids' watches from Seiko's sister brand, for older children.

Can a little girl's watch handle water?

It depends on the model. Some pieces are 3 atm, which only handle hand washing and rain, while others are 10 atm and can be used for swimming. If your child goes to training or the swimming pool, check this first on the product page.

From what age is it worth buying a watch?

Usually around 5–7 years old, when they start learning to tell time at school. At that age a hook-and-loop or soft silicone strap is the most comfortable, because she can put it on by herself.

How to choose together online

Sit down together in front of the screen and let your daughter look through the dials: if she picks it herself, she will definitely wear it. Meanwhile you keep an eye on the water resistance and the strap type on the product page.

You will find boys' and unisex models in the full range of kids' watches.

What parents ask about girls' watches

What determines the price of a little girl's watch?

Mostly the brand: Tiko Time models are the most affordable, while Ice Watch and Lorus watches represent a somewhat higher category.

Which watch is good for a little girl learning to tell time?

For learning, a dial with hands and every number written out is best, such as the Ice Watch Learning series. Avoid dials with indexes and no numbers, because they are harder to practise on.

Can you swim with a kids' watch?

Only a kids' watch with 10 atm (100 m) water resistance can be used for swimming. A 3 atm model handles rain and hand washing, but is not meant for the swimming pool.

What if the strap is too long for my child's wrist?

Our own watch service shortens the strap and changes the battery. For smaller children we suggest a hook-and-loop or soft silicone strap from the start, because it is easy to adjust.
