Women's watches by movement – quartz, automatic, solar, digital
Quartz, automatic or solar? Here you can choose a women's watch by movement. The great majority of women's watches are quartz, but mechanical (automatic) and solar models are available from several brands too, with analogue and digital displays. As an official dealer, we ship them with the factory warranty and home delivery, and our own watch service changes the batteries.
Quartz or automatic women's watch – which is right for you?
Women's quartz watches run on a battery, are very accurate, slim and light – which is why there are so many of them. Women's mechanical watches get their energy from the motion of your wrist and need no battery; in return they are a little thicker, and they stop if you do not wear them for a few days. If you like your watch to feel "alive" and want to see the movement through a glass case back, automatic is the one.
What can a solar women's watch do?
Solar watches charge their rechargeable cell from light through the dial, so there is practically no battery change. The Citizen Eco-Drive and Casio solar models are the best known. If you do not want to deal with batteries but find an automatic too much fuss, this is the middle way.
Analogue or digital?
Most women's watches have hands, but there are plenty of digital women's watches too: Casio Vintage, G-Shock women's models, with a stopwatch, alarm and backlight. For workouts and running, digital is more practical.
If the battery runs down, our own watch service will replace it, and on a water resistant watch it also performs the water resistance check recommended afterwards – so maintaining a watch ordered online is taken care of.
Women's watch movements – frequently asked questions
How often does the battery need changing in a women's watch?
In a quartz women's watch, the battery usually lasts a few years, depending on the type and functions. Our own watch service changes it quickly.
Does an automatic women's watch need a battery?
No, an automatic watch winds itself from the motion of your wrist. If you do not wear it, it stops, but it can be restarted with the crown.
What is the point of a solar watch?
A solar watch charges its built-in rechargeable cell with light, so no regular battery change is needed. It is enough for light to reach the dial from time to time.
