Where does the Lunokhod get its name?
Lunokhod-1 was the first remote-controlled vehicle to travel on another celestial body, the Moon. The Vostok Europe Lunokhod commemorates that Soviet moon rover programme, and the Lunokhod-2 models refer to the second rover. The watches are large and full of character, and the shape of the case has a slightly "instrument panel" feel.
Should you choose a 30 or 20 ATM Lunokhod?
The collection includes models with 30 ATM (300 m) and 20 ATM (200 m) water resistance. Both are enough for recreational diving; the difference is felt more in the case design and the weight.
- If you dive regularly, the 30 ATM version gives a bigger reserve.
- If you would mostly wear it in town and at the beach, the 20 ATM is more than adequate.
Quartz or automatic Lunokhod?
It is available with both quartz and automatic movements. Quartz is more accurate and does not need resetting if you leave it unworn for a few days; the automatic has no battery but needs daily wear. According to the brand, some Vostok Europe models are made with self-luminous tritium tubes – check the product page to see whether a particular Lunokhod has them. If you have a slimmer wrist, the 20 ATM versions are generally a little lighter.
