What's an Aquaracer good for if you don't dive?
Most people don't dive to 200 metres with it – they buy it for its toughness. The unidirectional rotating bezel lets you time a parking ticket or the pasta, and the screw-down crown gives you peace of mind on the beach and in the shower. A dive watch is one with at least 20 ATM (200 m) water resistance, and the vast majority of Aquaracer models are like that.
Automatic, quartz or Solargraph Aquaracer?
- Automatic – there's no battery, the motion of your wrist keeps it running; if you wear it daily, this is the classic route.
- Solargraph – a solar movement charged by light through the dial; if the watch sometimes rests for days, this is the more convenient choice.
- Quartz – the most accurate, and it asks for the least attention.
Women's or men's Aquaracer?
The Aquaracer is one of the few dive watch series where you'll find plenty of women's models, with a smaller case but the same toughness. How do you choose a size online?
Measure the case diameter of the watch you wear now and compare it with the value given on the product page. Dive watches, bezel included, look bigger than a dress watch of the same diameter, so if your wrist is slim, choose the smaller case size. If you're unsure, write to us and we'll help.
Aquaracer – what people ask before buying a dive watch
Can you scuba dive with the TAG Heuer Aquaracer?
Yes, models water-resistant to at least 200 metres are also suitable for diving. With 10 ATM versions you can swim without worry, while for diving you want the 20–30 ATM ones.
What does Aquaracer 300m on the dial mean?
It means the watch is water-resistant to 30 ATM, the equivalent of 300 metres of water pressure. These are the toughest pieces of the series, designed specifically for diving.
What is the TAG Heuer Solargraph?
TAG Heuer's solar-powered movement, charged by the light that reaches it through the dial. This means no regular battery changes, and a watch left resting in a drawer won't easily run flat.
What determines the price of a TAG Heuer Aquaracer?
Primarily the movement, the case material and the water resistance. Quartz and Solargraph models are the entry level of the series, while the automatic and 300-metre Professional versions form the higher range.
