Seiko Prospex – dive watches, field watches and chronographs for demanding use
Seiko Prospex is the brand's professional sports and dive watch line. Our range includes both automatic and light-powered solar models, most of them 20 bar dive watches. Turtle, Sumo, Monster, King and Speedtimer are all part of the selection. We are an official Seiko dealer, we supply every watch with the factory warranty, and we check water resistance in our own watch service.
What does the Prospex name mean?
Prospex is short for “professional specifications”: it is where Seiko puts the watches designed for underwater, the outdoors or the racetrack. For dive watches that means a unidirectional rotating bezel, strong lume and at least 20 bar of water resistance.
Which Seiko Prospex dive watch should you choose?
- Turtle – a cushion-shaped, rounded case that sits comfortably on the wrist; most people start here.
- Sumo and Monster – larger, more assertive cases if you want a watch that stands out.
- King and Heritage – modern takes on classic Seiko divers.
- Land and Speedtimer – if you are after a field watch or a solar chronograph rather than a diver.
20 or 30 bar – what is enough?
20 bar (200 m) is suitable for diving, so holidays, snorkelling and dives are no problem. We would recommend the 30 bar models to more serious divers. Many people also search for the Samurai; if you cannot find it in the list, write to us and we will see what we can get.
How to choose a Prospex online
Case size matters a lot on Prospex watches: check the case diameter and thickness on the product page and compare them with a watch you already wear. On a slimmer wrist the Turtle or the King is easier to live with, while the Sumo and Monster really shine on larger wrists.
It is also worth browsing the full Seiko range. Every Prospex comes with the factory warranty, and our own watch service checks the seals.
Seiko Prospex watches – questions from across the counter
What is the Seiko Prospex?
The Seiko Prospex is the brand's professional sports watch line, with dive watches, field watches and chronographs. The name is short for “professional specifications”.
What determines the price of a Seiko Prospex?
The movement and the edition: solar and basic automatic divers form the entry level of the line, while 30 bar, sapphire crystal or limited pieces sit at the higher end.
What is the difference between the Seiko Prospex Turtle and the Samurai?
The Turtle has a cushion-shaped, rounded case, while the Samurai is a more angular, sharper-lined diver. Both are rated 20 bar; the choice mostly comes down to taste and wrist size.
Should I buy an automatic or a solar Prospex?
If you love mechanical watches and wear yours every day, the automatic Prospex is the right choice. If your watch sometimes rests for days, the solar is more convenient because it does not stop.
