Seiko Kinetic Watches – Quartz Accuracy Without Regular Battery Changes

The Seiko Kinetic is a quartz watch that is charged not by a battery but by the movement of your arm. Our range includes 10 atm men's models, and the other members of the collection can be ordered in for you. We are an official Seiko dealer, we deliver with a manufacturer warranty, and we know Kinetic watches too: if the energy storage wears out, our service deals with it.

How does the Seiko Kinetic work?

Seiko introduced Kinetic technology in 1988: a small oscillating weight rotates in the case and drives a tiny generator, which charges an energy storage unit. The heart of the watch is quartz, so its accuracy is that of a quartz watch, but you do not need to put a battery in it regularly.

Who is the Kinetic for?

  • For anyone who wears their watch almost every day – so there is always enough energy in it.
  • For those who like quartz accuracy but do not want to keep going for battery changes.
  • For anyone who wants a sporty 10 atm men's watch that is also suitable for swimming.

What to watch out for if you keep it in a drawer

If you do not put it on for days, the Kinetic will eventually stop. It is not broken: wear it for a while or move it about, and it starts again. If after many years it no longer holds a charge, the energy storage unit needs replacing – we take care of that.

If you would wear a watch less regularly, in the Seiko range you will also find solar models, which are charged by light. Write to us and we will tell you which Kinetic can be ordered.

Seiko Kinetic – the key questions in brief

Do you need to change the battery in a Seiko Kinetic?

No, a Seiko Kinetic watch generates energy from the movement of your arm, so it has no conventional battery. After many years the energy storage unit has to be replaced once.

Why did my Kinetic watch stop?

A Kinetic watch most often stops because you have not worn it for days and it has run down. Wear it for a while or shake it a few times, and it runs again.

What is the difference between Seiko Kinetic and Seiko Solar?

Kinetic charges itself from motion, Solar from light. If you sit in an office by the light a lot, Solar is more convenient; if you are active and wear it every day, Kinetic.
