Orient Classic Watches – Sun and Moon, Symphony, Stretto Date

The Orient Classic line is the brand's most versatile collection: mostly automatic, but with quartz models too. In it you will find the Stretto Date, the Sun and Moon, the Symphony and the World Map dial piece, as well as smaller-cased women's watches. We are an official Orient dealer, the watches arrive at your door with the manufacturer warranty, and our own watch service helps with adjusting the metal clasp.

What belongs to the Orient Classic collection?

The Classic is Orient's most varied line: it includes traditional three-hand dress watches as well as slightly sportier everyday pieces. In our range these are the groups:

  • Stretto Date and Stretto Sun – the biggest group in the Classic, clean automatics.
  • Sun and Moon – with a day-night display.
  • Symphony and Symphony II – simple, legible automatics.
  • World Map – a dial with a world map, a conversation starter.
  • Classic women's – quartz models with smaller cases.

Should you buy a quartz or an automatic Orient Classic?

Quartz models are the entry level: they run on a battery and need no attention. The automatic Classics, though, show Orient's real strength – an in-house movement kept alive by the movement of your arm. Our advice: if you are buying it as a gift for someone who isn't into watches, quartz is the convenient choice; if mechanics interest you as well, stay with the automatic.

How water resistant are the Classic watches?

Most are rated 5 atm: hand washing, a downpour and splashes in the shower are fine, but we don't recommend swimming. If you want to take it into the pool, look for dive watches like the Mako among the Orient watches, or narrow the range down to the Orient men's watches.

How does the Sun and Moon display work?

In a small window on the dial a disc turns round during the day: the sun is visible in daytime and the moon at night. It is a simple day-night indicator that also helps when setting the time, because you can see whether the watch is showing morning or evening.
