What can the Tissot PRC 200 do?
The PRC 200 is Tissot's tough sports watch: a stopwatch function, an easy-to-read dial and a robust steel case. The name refers to 200 metres of water resistance – the models are rated 20 atm, a category that already suits diving. They have quartz movements, so they are accurate and only need an occasional battery change.
What is 20 atm water resistance good for?
- Swimming, pool, sea, snorkelling – go ahead.
- Showers, washing up, rain – it will not even notice.
- For serious scuba dives we recommend a dedicated dive watch with a screw-down crown and a rotating bezel.
One tip: have the water resistance checked once a year, especially before summer. Our own watch service can do that for you.
PRC 200 or Seastar?
If the stopwatch matters and the water just has to be tolerated, the PRC 200 is the better pick. If you want a true dive watch with a rotating bezel, look towards the Seastar. On the wrist the PRC 200 is a little more understated and does not stand out in an office either.
What to watch for with a quartz chronograph
Do not press the chronograph pushers underwater, and if you use the stopwatch a lot, expect the battery to run down sooner. Do not leave a dead battery in the watch for months – have it replaced as soon as possible, and our service can help with that.
