Rado Captain Cook – Automatic Dive and Sports Watches

In the Rado Captain Cook family you can choose between men's and women's sizes, and all are automatic: the men's pieces are water resistant to 300 metres (30 ATM), the smaller, women's-size versions to 100 metres. As an official Rado dealer, we deliver the watch with the manufacturer warranty, and we can also order versions missing from the range. We do the water-resistance check in our own service, if you want to be sure even years from now.

Where does the Rado Captain Cook come from?

The Rado Captain Cook appeared in 1962, in the same year as the DiaStar. Today's models carry on the design language of that 1960s dive watch, so they are sporty and a little retro at once. This family is one of the cornerstones of Rado's sports line.

300 or 100 metres: which Captain Cook do you need?

  • 30 ATM (300 m): on the men's models; suitable for swimming, snorkelling and diving, and you do not have to take it off on holiday either.
  • 10 ATM (100 m): the women's-size pieces; enough for swimming and showering, but we do not recommend going deeper.

If you want to wear it in the water, the 300-metre version is the more reassuring choice. If you need it more for the office and the weekend, the smaller case may be more comfortable.

How do you choose a size online?

The cases of dive watches are usually chunkier, so on the product page check both the diameter and the thickness, and think about whether it will fit under a shirt cuff and not overhang the edge of your wrist. The dimensions of your current watch give you a good point of reference. Our own watch service adjusts the bracelet to your size. If you also want to compare the brand's other collections, you can find the full Rado range here.

Rado Captain Cook: the dive watch questions

What determines the price of a Rado Captain Cook?

Mainly the size and the finish: the case material, the type of bracelet and the model version determine where a piece sits within the Captain Cook family.

Can I dive with the Rado Captain Cook?

With the 30 ATM (300 m) Captain Cook models, yes, they are suitable for diving. With the 10 ATM smaller versions you can swim, but we do not recommend diving.

Is there a women's-size Rado Captain Cook?

Yes, the family also includes smaller, women's-size Captain Cook models with 10 ATM water resistance. They are automatic, just like the men's models.

How often should I have the Captain Cook's water resistance checked?

If you regularly take it into the water, it is worth having the seals tested once a year. Our own watch service does this for you.
