1969 was a memorable year in Japan: it was then that Seiko presented its first automatic chronograph, while Nissan launched its legendary sports car, the Datsun 240Z. Two technical breakthroughs united by the same innovative spirit.
This watch evokes the sports car world of the late 1960s and early 1970s in every detail. In addition to the black-coated stainless steel case, black leather strap and red details, the dial also has several elements that hint at the collaboration: at 12 o'clock, the Datsun logo of the time can be seen, and the colors and numeral characters reflect the style of the Datsun 240Z dashboard. Every little detail is carefully planned - the atmosphere is authentic and complete.
For sporty chronographs, perfect legibility is of the utmost importance, so the sub-dials at 6 and 9 o'clock have been given a non-reflective "Jet Black" coating - just like the black bonnet of the Datsun 240Z, which was colored dark for the same practical reason.
The black leather strap is sustainably sourced, as Seiko has been committed to recently. The Datsun logo also appears on the buckle, a reminder of our shared heritage and iconic collaboration. The model was produced in a limited edition of only 500 pieces, and its unique gift box also bears the Datsun logo.
