The story began in 1964, when Susie Russel, a designer from San Francisco, hired a hitchhiker in California near Lake Tahoe. That hitchhiker was Doug Tompkins, the promising Olympian skier. They were married six months later. The Esprit brand was born in 1968, in Marin, a suburb of San Francisco. Thanks to the married couple, the ESPRIT company was founded. A lot of time has passed since then. Today, the brand occupies a very prestigious place among the world's big fashion companies.
